Ken Scott gave me a copy of your leaflet:  States of Refuge Presents ABORTION VIOLATION !    The paragraphs on pages 3 and 4 tend to re-inforce the illusion--the false faith--that America was once a righteous nation and could be again if Roe v. Wade was reversed.

You quote from the Declaration of Independence . . . all men are created equal . . . unalienable rights . . . LIFE . . .  Thomas Jefferson, the man who wrote that in 1776, still owned slaves when he died in 1826,  50  years  later, and they had to be sold to pay up his liquor bills, because he died bankrupt.  He and his aristocratic guests drank up the life blood of those slaves in the fine wine he imported from France to maintain his lavish hospitality.  George Washington, Patrick Henry and James Madison were also slave owners.  And supporters of those genocidal wars that got rid of the Indians while their land was taken from them.  Abortion is not contrary to the original American values, it is right in line with them:  the great waste of human life in pursuit of loot.

Your leaflet refers to World War II as exemplifying American righteousness.  Sixty million people were killed in World War II, two thirds of them civilians.  By the end of the war American war planes were indiscriminately bombing the cities of Germany, killing and crippling a million--women and kids and old folks.  70,000 people were killed and half the houses destroyed when Allied war planes bombed Hamburg in July 1943.  And the same thing was done to the cities of Japan.  In the Final Act of that war, a Catholic pilot dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and destroyed a Catholic grade school at ground zero with all the children in it.  Is this how you define righteousness ?

legal Abortion in America  did not begin with the Roe versus Wade decision in 1973.  It began June 15th 1967 when Governor Ronald Reagan  reluctantly signed the new California abortion law.  It began April 25th 1967 when the Republican Governor of Colorado signed the new abortion law passed by the Republican legislature.  But abortion was a basic part of the American life style long before it became legal.  There were an estimated 100,000 abortions every year in California before the new law was passed.  Abortion is driven by that pursuit of wealth which is epidemic among America's worldly so-called Christians = The Love of Money is the Root of All Evil.

The primary cause of abortion in America is more money / fewer kids via Careers for Women which requires that young people delay having babies until they are in their 30s.  Unless they can accept celibacy from 15 to 30, their realistic choice is contraception backed by abortion as provided by Planned Parenthood.  In an investment minded society, $ 500 invested in an abortion will bring a $ 500,000 return when it saves a young woman from having to abandon her career.  [ See the argument in  Four Fallacies of the Personhood Amendment,  Letter to the Bishops   and  The Roots of Abortion  on the Radical Christian Press.org web site. ]
